Returned of the Damned

In the beginning, there were only 4. I was one of them, and the clan grew both in size and in power by the day. In time to come, it became one of the most feared, most ruthless, but still, most popular teams not only in the local Xbox scene, but among its many friends as well. We played by only one mantra, and that was to have fun no matter what. Whether it meant screwing up the entire game just for the sake of one silly notion, or pulverising the opposing team, we were in it for ourselves and not there to please anyone. We were Team Damnation.

Some time last year, some of the team took an interest in pro paintball, and formed the paintball branch of TD. Since then, they have been training together, making regular trips up to Malaysia to practise and even join tournaments. I always was interested in joining them, but never got down to it. Until now!

The Citiphone shift team went for a paintball session the other day, and though it wasn't my first one, it was that little extra kick I needed to get me started on pro paintball. Next thing I knew, I was looking up gear reviews on respectable paintball sites and even on Youtube, looking for suitable gear to deck myself out with.

After much talk with the TD people and some research, I finally narrowed down my mask selection to Empire's 08 E-Vents. I had gotten hold of Myaadraal's carbon fiber E-Vents and used them at a game, and they absolutely worked for me. Paintballs bounced off the cheeks, the lenses stayed crystal clear even under the extreme heat, and breathing wasn't a problem. I have since ordered and received my very own white E-Vents, affectionately known as the white Stormtrooper, thanks to its resemblance to the pre-mentioned character from Star Wars. LOL. I swapped out its stock smoked lenses with a fireshield lens though, just to add more mojo to it.

As for pants, jerseys, gloves, elbow and knee pads, I'm kind of eyeing Empire as well, but I'll be taking a trip up to KL on the 20th to check them out before ordering. Always good to try out the stuff before you commit to an order. Don't wanna be dragging your pants around when running on the field!

Anyway, some pics of of the gear and our latest paintball outing!

Notice how everyone is still clean and fresh.

Hmmm. Yours truly.

The aftermath. All painted up, but still all smiles!
